Understanding Erectile Dysfunction

What is a Penile Implant?

Penile implants are typically considered when other treatments for ED, such as medications or injections, have failed.

Titan® Inflatable Penile Implant

At our clinic, we offer the Titan® inflatable penile implant. The Titan inflatable penile implant is a three-piece system comprising a reservoir placed in the abdomen, two cylinders placed in the shaft of the penis, and a pump located in the scrotum. Squeezing the pump transfers fluid from the reservoir to the cylinders, creating an erection. Pressing the deflate button returns the fluid to the reservoir, making the penis flaccid. This implant offers a natural-looking erection and a flaccid state, easy to use and activate, maximises penile girth, and is not visibly noticeable when flaccid.

The Procedure

The penile implant procedure is typically performed under general anaesthesia and takes about 1 to 2 hours. 

Preparation

You will receive specific instructions to prepare for the surgery,
including fasting and pre-operative assessments.

Surgery

A small incision is made in the scrotum or lower abdomen, and the implant is placed inside the penis. For the inflatable implant, the pump is placed inside the scrotum and the reservoir in the abdomen.

Recovery

Most patients can go home the same day or the next day. Full recovery and the ability to resume sexual activity usually take about 4 to 6 weeks.

Erectile dysfunction is the inability to achieve and/or maintain an erection that will allow sexual activity with penetration.
