Flexible Cystoscopy
Cystoscopy is a vital diagnostic procedure for examining the bladder and urethra. Learn how this minimally invasive technique can help diagnose various urological conditions.

What is a Flexible Cystoscopy?

Flexible cystoscopy is a procedure that allows your urologist to view the inside of the bladder and urethra using a thin, flexible tube called a cystoscope. This procedure helps diagnose conditions affecting the urinary tract.

Preparation:

Flexible cystoscopy is typically performed under local anaesthesia.

Surgical Process:

The cystoscope, equipped with a light and camera, is gently inserted through the urethra into the bladder. The camera transmits images to a screen, allowing the urologist to examine the bladder lining and urethra for abnormalities.

Conditions Evaluated:

Post-Operative Care:

After the procedure, you may experience mild discomfort or a burning sensation during urination, which usually resolves within a day or two. Drinking plenty of water can help flush out the bladder and reduce discomfort.
