Circumcision Procedure

Before proceeding with circumcision, your urologist will conduct a thorough evaluation, including a detailed medical history and physical examination. This ensures that circumcision is an appropriate option and helps identify any potential risks or complications.

Circumcision is typically performed as an outpatient or day stay procedure under local or general anaesthesia, depending on the patient’s age or medical condition.

After the procedure, a bandage is applied to the area to protect it during healing. You will be given detailed instructions on how to care for the site, manage pain, and recognise signs of infection or complications.

Recovery time varies depending on the patient’s age and individual healing process. Infants generally take about 5 – 7 days, and older children and adults may take about 1 – 2 weeks.

We will provide specific post-operative care instructions and schedule follow-up appointments to monitor healing and address any concerns.

Phimosis can also happen because of injury or damage that causes the foreskin to tear (secondary or acquired phimosis).
